GARDEN GROVE : Ban on Fireworks Tabled by Panel

Consideration of a fireworks ban in the city has been tabled by the same city commission that brought the matter to the City Council in 1989.

The Neighborhood Improvement and Conservation Commission again considered asking the council to vote on barring all fireworks but decided to table the matter for more study.

Commission members Harry Krebs and Helen Wagner had originally proposed the ban. A call by the same commission in 1989 led the council to consider such a prohibition, then reject it, 4 to 1, before a standing-room-only crowd.
