Intelligence Reserve Unit Is Called Up
A 40-member Army Reserve unit that specializes in military intelligence has been called to active duty, a spokesman said Wednesday.
The 6th U.S. Army Intelligence Training Army Area School reported for duty Tuesday at the Armed Forces Reserve Center here, spokesman Ted Bartimus said.
Members are a cadre of instructors who teach military intelligence to mostly Army personnel. Although Bartimus said he would not comment on whether the unit would ultimately go to the Persian Gulf, he said its members will leave Los Alamitos on Friday for a mobilization station at Ft. Huachuca, Ariz. The fort, which has a military intelligence school, is about 60 miles southeast of Tucson.
Bartimus said more than 200 Los Alamitos-based Army Reserve members have been been called to active duty since forces of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait on Aug. 2.
