Police confiscated more than 100 pounds of marijuana Wednesday from a house in the 1500 block of 31st Street.

Narcotics officials said that, depending on the quality of the marijuana, the value could be more than $100,000.

Police went to the house at noon on a call of a possible burglary, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. When officers arrived, they found Santiago Alcazar-Serrano, 22, sitting in a car with the motor running and the trunk open. Police noticed a package covered with tape inside a partially open gray bag in the trunk.

A police dog trained to sniff out narcotics alerted officers, who found that the package contained marijuana, Robinson said.

Alcazar-Serrano, who lived on the same street, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, Robinson said. Two other men at the scene fled when police officers arrived, Robinson said.
