Rivadeneyra Chosen to Coach Corona del Mar Boys’ Volleyball
Mark Rivadeneyra has been named boys’ volleyball coach at Corona del Mar High School, Athletic Director Jerry Jelnick said Thursday.
Rivadeneyra replaces Charlie Brande, who was suspended from coaching in the Southern Section for one season for violating section rules on coaching players in the off-season. Rivadeneyra, a walk-on coach, is hired on a year-to-year basis.
Rivadeneyra, 30, has been an assistant coach at San Clemente, Woodbridge and Dana Hills. He played volleyball at San Clemente and Orange Coast College.
He is a teacher at San Juan Elementary School in San Juan Capistrano.
