THE SIDELINES : Cordero Hurts Shoulder in Race

NEW YORK — Jockey Angel Cordero Jr. hurt his right shoulder in a spill today during the fourth race at Aqueduct.
Frank Sanabria, Cordero’s agent, said the jockey sustained a slight shoulder separation and would be out of action about a week.
Cordero was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital for further evaluation.
The 48-year-old Hall of Fame rider was injured when his mount, Modest Glow, fell over Originate, who broke down in midstretch. Originate’s rider, J. C. Ferrer, escaped serious injury.
