Honors and accolades to the young California Navy medic, Clerence D. Connor, the first recipient of the Purple Heart in the Operation Desert Storm, for his bravery taking the physical wound without any damage to his enthusiasm as he requested to return to his duties.

Honors and accolades to an entire nation for the capacity to absorb the physical attack of the Iraqi Scud missiles without a like retaliation, which could create great confusion among friends and potential damage to the allies.

As we respect the inspirations of bravery and disciplined restraint, so should we be responsive with evidence of loyalty and good faith. The U.S. acted quickly last August to achieve the United Nations resolutions condemning Iraq’s invasion of its southern neighbor, and so should the U.S. act swiftly to achieve an immediate U.N. condemnation of Iraq’s attack on the innocent and uninvolved nation Israel.
