Police have arrested a Rosemead man and three La Puente youths in connection with 89 car burglaries in Simi Valley since December, officials said Friday.

Ngoc Phan, 20, posted bail from the Ventura County Jail Friday where he was held on suspicion of burglary and possession of burglary tools, Sgt. Robert Sparks said.

The three juveniles, who were not identified because of their ages, were lodged in Juvenile Hall.

About 1:30 a.m. Thursday, a Simi Valley police officer stopped the four suspects leaving a residential area near Los Angeles Avenue and Erringer Road and discovered stereo equipment in their car, Lt. Neal Rein said. Following an investigation of the suspects’ residences, police recovered additional equipment, linking them to the 89 thefts, he said.

Large rocks and other blunt instruments were used to enter many of the cars during thefts between Dec. 1 and Jan. 24, Rein said.
