COMMUNITY COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Golden West Rallies to Defeat OCC

Golden West College trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but rallied for an 82-69 victory over Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference game Friday at Orange Coast.

OCC led, 24-12, with about eight minutes left in the first half but first-place Golden West (25-1, 7-0 in conference) rallied to lead, 37-32, at the half.

Dawn Haag had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Jennifer Harney added 19 points and Tracy Wolfe had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Golden West. Erika Manning had 26 points and 15 rebounds for Orange Coast (12-14, 2-5).

In other conference games:

Fullerton 71, Saddleback 41--Fullerton led, 34-32, midway in the second half, then went on a 20-4 run to take a 54-36 lead with about seven minutes left. Keri Erkenbrack scored 18 points and Vicki Evans added 16 for the Hornets (19-5, 5-2). Erin Schimeneck scored 15 points and had 15 rebounds for Saddleback (15-7, 3-4).

Rancho Santiago 61, Cypress 40--Laurie Sallinger scored 17 points and Alin Perez scored 12 points for visiting Rancho Santiago (8-15, 1-6). Jackie Boxley scored 18 points and Chris Bazzel scored eight points and had 17 rebounds for Cypress (2-22, 1-6).
