Gov. Wilson’s Proposed Budget Cuts

Regarding Wilson’s proposed budget, one thing stuck out among the rest which I find a little unnerving. I noticed that he is proposing that there be no raise this year for California employees. These are hard times, and I can appreciate the need to halt pay raises. What I don’t understand is that he didn’t say a damn thing about wanting to reduce the raises he and the Legislature just received.

Wilson speaks of leadership. I think this is a time for such leadership. Seldom do we see our leaders willing to take a pay cut. We need responsible leaders, not the hit-and-run types that have got us into the financial woes of today. They expect us to suffer through the hard times, but they don’t seem to feel the need themselves. What ever happened to the concept of public service?
