Japanese Show Big TV Interest in Gulf War

TOKYO — Big-screen televisions with receivers suitable for picking up satellite transmissions of news on the Persian Gulf War are hot items in Tokyo’s electronics shops, a newspaper said Sunday.
Sales of satellite receivers and antennas have boomed 70% to 80% in the dozens of electronics discount stores in Akihabara, the city’s “electronics heaven” famous for the deals and variety offered, said the Mainichi Daily News, quoting industry sources.
