Knight-Ridder Inc.: The company reported fourth-quarter net income of $42 million, down 33% from the same period in 1989. Revenue for the period totaled $588 million, down 3.3%. For all of 1990, the Miami-based newspaper publishing firm’s profit fell 40% from 1989 to $149 million. Revenue totaled $2.31 billion, up 1.6% from 1989. The company attributed the results to selected labor buyouts at several of its newspapers, most of which occurred in the fourth quarter.
