THE SIDELINES : Dodgers to Play in Mexico
The Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers will travel to Monterrey, Mexico, for spring training games March 16 and March 17.
The Dodgers will play Industriales of Monterrey on Saturday, March 16, and the Brewers will play Sultanes of Monterrey.
The following day, the Dodgers play the Brewers, with Fernando Valenzuela scheduled to start for Los Angeles and Ted Higuera for the Brewers. Both are Mexican.
The last time the Dodgers played in Mexico was in 1964, when they had two exhibition games against the Mexico City Tigers and one against the Mexico City Reds.
“The Dodgers are fortunate to have many fans in Mexico, and we are looking forward to bringing the Dodgers to Monterrey,” Los Angeles owner Peter O’Malley said today at a news conference in Monterrey.
