Aldrich, Freund Pick Colleges
Football players Troy Aldrich of Canyon High and Eric Freund of Hart have committed to four-year colleges.
Aldrich said he has agreed to play football for Cal State Northridge on a partial scholarship, and Freund will receive a full scholarship from Northern Arizona, Hart Coach Mike Herrington said.
Aldrich, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, played several positions at Canyon but said he was recruited as a tight end. He said he will major in civil engineering.
In his only year of varsity football, Aldrich caught 35 passes for 538 yards and one touchdown and was an All-Golden League pick as a wide receiver.
An All-Golden League player and two-year starter on the volleyball team, Aldrich said he also hopes to play volleyball for Northridge.
Freund (6-6, 230) was a first-team All-Foothill League offensive tackle. He also visited Nevada Reno, Pacific, Cal State Fullerton and Montana State, Herrington said.
Both players reportedly have fulfilled Proposition 48 academic requirements.
