Coca-Cola Plans German Expansion: Coca-Cola Co. said it will buy bottling and distribution plants in former East Germany as part of efforts to boost sales there. The agreement in principle with Treuhandanstalt, the state agency charged with privatizing industry in the formerly Communist region, and new capital investments will bring Coca-Cola’s investment to more than $450 million, the Atlanta-based company said. Coca-Cola began selling in eastern Germany last February, months before the former Communist state was incorporated into West Germany.
