OXNARD : 2 Motorists Hurt in 7-Vehicle Pileup
Two people received minor injuries Tuesday in a seven-vehicle pileup that backed up morning traffic on the Ventura Freeway for miles.
The accident, which involved three large trucks, occurred about 8:30 a.m. on the Santa Clara River Bridge.
California Highway Patrol officers said traffic along the bridge came to a sudden stop, causing a tractor-trailer rig to run into a car, which in turn hit a van.
The two cars following the tractor-trailer then stopped to avoid the crash but were rear-ended by a dump truck, officers said. The impact forced one of the cars into the middle lane where it hit another tractor-trailer, officers said.
Matthew Delahverta of Port Hueneme and Edward Berger of Chatsworth were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and released.
No citations have been issued pending further investigation.
