HUNTINGTON BEACH : Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash Into Car
A Huntington Beach motorcyclist was in fair condition Tuesday after crashing into a car whose driver was cited for pulling in front of the motorcyclist, police said.
Larry Randolph Riggs, 29, sustained a head injury, fractures and cuts and was flown by helicopter to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after the noon accident at Bolsa Avenue near Graham Street, police said.
Police said Riggs’ motorcycle slammed into the side of a 1989 Ford Probe after its driver, Christine Budender of Huntington Beach, pulled out of a driveway and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
Budender, whose age was not given, was cited for causing the accident and released at the scene, police said.
A Life Flight helicopter called to transport Riggs to the hospital developed a mechanical problem and had to be grounded at the scene, authorities said. Another helicopter was called to take him to Western Medical Center, authorities said.
