THE GULF WAR: The Political Front : In Jordan
For the second time in six days, AMERICAN Ambassador Roger Harrison was summoned in Amman, JORDAN, to explain the U.S. position on allied bombings of highways in that country. The raids have severely limited Amman’s main source of fuel from Iraq. Jordan says the bombings have killed six drivers and destroyed up to 30 Jordanian oil trucks and private cars in Iraq. In a briefing with Western reporters, Information Minister Ibrahim Izzeddine said relations between Amman and Washington have soured sharply over the issue.
