In other Century League girls’ games:
EL Modena 1, Villa Park 0--Senior forward Amy Spurgeon, in her first game since suffering a leg injury in December, scored 10 minutes into the second half for visiting El Modena (8-8-3, 4-3-2), which clinched third place in league and the final playoff spot. Freshman goalkeeper Amy Moreno had four saves in her 10th shutout of the season for the Vanguards. Villa Park is 2-4-3 in league.
Orange 3, Santa Ana Valley 0--Sara Viveros, Laura Roundy and Mary Pezzetti scored for host Orange (4-8-4, 2-4-1).
In Angelus League girls’ soccer:
Walnut 6, Rosary 3--Lana McHugh had two goals and Jennifer Kambak had one for host Rosary (9-8-4, 2-6-1). Juli Wilwerth had two goals and four other players scored for Walnut.
In the Empire League:
Los Alamitos 8, Katella 0--Karen Kolodziej and Jenny Reyes each had two goals and Julie Harris, Erin Ryan, Laura Brun and Laura Kuzminsky each scored one for host Los Alamitos (17-3-3, 7-0-2), which clinched a share of the league title. Sophomore goalkeeper Kathy Skoglund had one save in her 15th shutout of the season, which tied the school record set by Mara Bloom in 1986, the last season the Griffins won a league title.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 5, Fullerton 0--Heidi Gugler and Stacy Thurber each scored two goals and Rhonda Partida scored one as visiting Sunny Hills (17-1-2, 8-1-1) clinched a share of it first league title in 10 seasons. Shannan Brown had five saves in her 14th shutout of the season.
In the Olympic League:
Orange Luthern 3, Whittier Christian 1--Amber Parkinson scored her 21st goal and Shawnna Johnson scored her 19th for host Orange Luthern. Susan Myers also scored for Orange Luthern (12-6-2, 9-3-1).
In the Orange League:
Valencia 2, Brea-Olinda 1--After Jill Fancher left the game with a red-card violation, Kristina Yoseloff scored two short-handed goals including one in the last 10 minutes that gave visiting Valencia (11-10-1, 7-1-1) the victory and clinched the league championship. Michelle Acosta scored on direct free kick early in the second half for Brea-Olinda (3-3-3 in league).
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 1, Tustin 0--Sally Newberry scored seven minutes into the second half for host Newport Harbor (7-7-3, 3-5-1). Lisa Bernhard had 14 saves for the Sailors.
University 1, Corona del Mar 1--Kristen Pope scored 17 minutes into the game for visiting University (9-5-7, 5-1-3). Kristen Shryock scored in the second half to tie the score for the Sea Kings (7-0-2 in league).
In the South Coast League:
El Toro 4, San Clemente 0--Shawn Viloria scored two goals and Shawna Berke and Denise Kenyon scored for visiting El Toro (24-0-2, 7-0-2), which clinched the league title. San Clemente is 3-13-2, 0-7-2.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 2, Fountain Valley 0--Lynne Thiel and Janell Martin scored goals for host Edison (15-3-6, 7-1-1).
In Sea View League boys’ games:
Corona del Mar 3, University 0--Scott Owen, Danny Soucek and Jason Boyce each scored for visiting Corona del Mar (14-6-1, 6-3). John Rivers had eight saves for the Sea Kings. Fred Jarrar had 15 saves for University (1-6-2 in the league).
Saddleback 2, Woodbridge 0--Jose Escuzero and Hernan DeSantos scored for visiting Saddleback (13-2-5, 4-1-4).
