THE SIDELINES : Davis Match Won’t Be Moved
From Times Wire Services
PARIS — French tennis officials today rejected an Israeli request to move a Davis Cup match from Marseilles. The Israelis had said that because Marseilles has a large Arab immigrant population, it might be a good idea to move the competition to another city for security reasons.
French Tennis Federation official Christian Duxin said his group is in contact with Marseilles officials and is satisfied with planned security arrangements.
The match had been scheduled for last weekend but was postponed until March 29-31 because of the Gulf War.
