What’s a Saucepan?
Regarding the review of the book “The Reluctant Cook” in your Singles Survival Guide (Jan. 10): I can’t believe that a “non-cook” would understand terms such as “four ounces elbow macaroni” and “medium saucepan.” How do you measure four ounces of macaroni? What size macaroni? Do you weigh it on a scale (the non-cook doesn’t have one!)? Do you put it in a liquid measuring cup? Do some stores sell four-ounce bags? What’s a saucepan? What’s medium size? What’s a colander? What’s a slotted spoon? What do I use if I don’t have one? . . . How do I get two to three ounces of shredded Cheddar? Will I find a shredder at the supermarket? Lastly, a half-package of salad macaroni makes one serving?
You gotta be kidding!
