Homeless in Los Angeles
In response to the statement of Tom LaBonge (Metro, Jan. 17), field deputy for Los Angeles City Councilman John Ferraro, that he felt compelled to set about the destruction of the City of Lost Souls--a homeless encampment on an embankment of the Golden State Freeway--by tattling to Caltrans:
Mayor Hal Smith said the rules for staying there were simple: “No dope heads, liars, cheats or thieves.” Was LaBonge pouting because none of City Hall’s illuminati could visit without being subject to arrest?
