Anderson Park Police Patrols OKd
Redondo Beach officials, responding to warnings about encroaching crime, are taking steps to discourage gang activity at Anderson Park.
The City Council on Tuesday ordered more frequent police patrols, improved lighting and new landscaping behind a wall where police say gang members hide. Residents complain that gang members have been gathering frequently at the park in recent months, bringing a surge in crime and graffiti.
“If we don’t stop it in North Redondo, it’s going to move right in on your districts,” Councilman Terry Ward warned other council members before Tuesday’s decision. “God forbid, but we’ve got to stop it where it’s happening.”
