Quayle to Visit Pendleton, Missile Plant
Vice President Dan Quayle is scheduled to visit Marines and their families at Camp Pendleton today, and on Friday tour the General Dynamics Mira Mesa plant, where the Tomahawk cruise missile is manufactured.
Neither event is open to the public, officials said.
At Camp Pendleton, home to an estimated 21,000 Marines who have been sent to the Persian Gulf, Quayle will address base personnel and relatives of deployed Marines shortly after 3 p.m., a Marine Corps spokesman said. He will arrive and leave at the base airfield.
He will return to Los Angeles tonight, and on Friday morning fly to the Miramar Naval Air Station and go by motorcade to General Dynamics’ Kearny Mesa plant, where he will tour and address company employees.
Quayle is scheduled to leave San Diego for Phoenix by mid-morning Friday.
