Raises Recommended for County Department Heads
Los Angeles County’s chief administrative officer has recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve annual raises ranging from $2,080 to $7,200 for 24 department heads, according to documents filed Thursday.
Meanwhile, Board Chairman Mike Antonovich has recommended that Chief Administative Officer Richard Dixon’s salary be raised to $163,000, retroactive to Jan. 1. The raise represents a $14,000 increase over the raise given to Dixon in January, 1990. If his new raise is granted, Dixon’s salary will have risen 45% since 1987, when he was making $112,000.
In a memorandum to the board, Dixon said evaluations of each department head’s performance had been completed in accordance to the management incentive program adopted by the board. The board is scheduled to vote on the raises Tuesday.
