Cool Charm Girl Headlines Los Alamitos Pacing Field
Cool Charm Girl, who set a distaff track record of 1:54 4/5 last year, heads a field of six fillies and mares tonight in the $7,000 invitational pace at Los Alamitos. The program opens a 124-night harness racing stand through July 27.
Cool Charm Girl, an 8-year-old New Zealand-bred mare, won her last four starts in 1990 and comes off a sharp qualifying triumph last week at Del Mar. She will be driven by Tim Maier.
The lineup, in order of post position, with drivers in parentheses: Dime A Dip (Jack Parker Jr.), Ja Ja Fajasm (Bob Sleeth), Perede (Joe Anderson), Lepton (Ross Croghan), Doodlin (Rick Kuebler) and Cool Charm Girl (Maier).
A field of six males will line up Saturday night in the $10,000 invitational pace: Denalis Thor (Ed Hensley), Glenburn Star (Kuebler), Storm Prince (Abe Stoltzfus), Winning Night (Rick Plano), Speedy Alba (Sleeth) and Vance Lobell (Croghan).
Los Alamitos will be open Tuesday through Saturday each week with additional Monday programs on Feb. 18 and May 27.
