GARDEN GROVE : City Staff Is Asked for Arts Panel Ideas
The five-member City Council, meeting Wednesday night as the city’s Joint Economic Development Committee, discussed whether the city needs a new commission, or whether the existing Community Services or Art in Public Places commissions should be enlarged to include the cultural arts, Assistant City Manager Michael D. Fenderson said.
Council members “asked us to look at both those groups,” he said. “It could be anything at this point.”
Also discussed was “some sort of designated funding for the arts,” Fenderson said. “Within budget constraints, they would like to provide some funding for the arts.”
The council members took no formal action, but the city staff is expected to present proposals in about a month, he said.
