Dominguez Hills Wins on Road, 79-70

The Cal State Dominguez Hills basketball team kept its postseason playoff hopes alive with a 79-70 victory against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Saturday night.

The Toros (15-9 overall, 4-5 in conference play) moved a half game out of fourth place and only a game out of third in the wild California Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Mustangs are 13-11 and 5-4.

Four players scored in double figures for Dominguez Hills. Center Michael Moore had 15 points and 11 rebounds, guard Raymond Bennett had 12 and guard Robert Barksdale and forward Brian Jones added 10 each.

Stuart Thomas, who scored a then career-high 34 points in a Jan. 18 victory over Dominguez Hills, scored 23 in Saturday’s game.

On Friday night, Dominguez Hills lost to Cal State Los Angeles, 80-60. L.A. opened a 21-6 lead and was never threatened.

The Lady Toros (15-8 overall, 2-5 in league play) kept their slim postseason tournament hopes alive by going 1-1 during the weekend. San Luis Obispo (11-12, 3-4) defeated the Lady Toros, 61-45, Saturday night, but on Friday host Dominguez Hills upended Cal State Los Angeles, 79-60.
