Two men bound a man and woman at gunpoint Tuesday, then robbed them of more than $3,000 in cash and valuables in the city’s second home invasion in a week, police said.

The robbers, one of them armed with a handgun, entered the home in the 10000 block of Hazard Avenue through a bedroom window about 1 p.m., Police Lt. Chuck Gibbs said.

The two men confronted the couple and used electrical cord to tie them up in their bedroom, Gibbs said. The couple’s 2-year-old son, who may have been sleeping, was unmolested.

The robbers then ransacked the house and escaped with $2,000 in cash and $1,000 in jewelry, a television set and a videocassette recorder. The victims, who were identified only as a Vietnamese couple, wriggled free of the cord an hour later and called police, Gibbs said.

The robbers were described as young Vietnamese men of average height and weight, Gibbs said.

On Feb. 5, two men invaded the home of a 17-year-old girl, tied the victim up and escaped with $1,300 in goods. Gibbs said it was “hard to say” whether the two crimes were connected.
