World IN BRIEF : JORDAN : Pilot and Friend Hanged for Treason

Jordan has hanged a young air force pilot and a friend for spying for Israel, the first executions for high treason in nearly 30 years, an official Jordanian source said. The friend was a vegetable truck driver who relayed intelligence to Israel, the source said. The pilot was recruited by Israel’s Mossad intelligence service early last year while on a training course in Germany. Officials did not describe the data that was allegedly passed.
