DESERT STORM: DAY 28 : Diplomatic
At the United Nations, the U.N. Security Council held closed consultations on the war, and Yemen’s ambassador condemned the civilian deaths. The U.S. ambassador, Thomas Pickering, briefed Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar on the allied bombing campaign.
* Iraq’s foreign minister will go to Moscow on Sunday to meet with President Mikhail S. Gorbachev as part of the Soviet effort to end the war. The visit by Foreign Minister Tarik Aziz would be the first to the Soviet capital by such a high-ranking Iraqi official since the war began.
