In other nonconference games:

Rancho Santiago 24, MiraCosta 2--Rancho Santiago hit five home runs, including two by Roul Rodarte, at Santa Ana. Rene Arias, Jeff White and Steve Grack also hit homers for the Dons, who had 21 hits.

Rodarte had five runs batted in and Grack had three hits and four RBIs for Rancho Santiago (10-1), which scored nine runs in the first. Paul O’Hern (3-0) picked up the victory.

Orange Coast 10, Los Angeles Harbor 5--Chris Larson drove in the first six runs for visiting Orange Coast. Larson’s three-run home run in the fourth gave the Pirates (5-1-1) a 4-1 lead, and his bases-loaded single was the big hit in a three-run eighth innning. Orange Coast added three runs in the ninth.

Chad Rolish, a freshman left-hander from Servite High School, pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits, striking out five and walking four. Los Angeles Harbor, the defending state champion, scored three runs in the ninth.

San Diego Mesa 11, Saddleback 8--Visiting San Diego Mesa scored seven times in the sixth inning to take a 10-3 lead. Saddleback had three in the ninth to make it close.

Rob Nye and Brian Walker each had three hits and an RBI for Saddleback. Lou Benbow hit a bases-empty home run for Saddleback.

In nonconference softball:

Cypress 9, Mt. San Antonio 1--Cypress scored four runs in the first and five in the second in its season-opening victory at home.

Nikkanni Andrews had a two-run triple in the first, and Stefanie Hill had a two-run single in the second.
