Egghead Discount Software: The personal computer software reseller reported third-quarter earnings of $7.4 million, a nearly tenfold increase over the year-ago period. Sales increased 12% to $130.1 million. The Issaquah, Wash.-based company attributed its results to cost-cutting measures and increased sales. It operated a total of 188 stores nationwide at the quarter’s close Jan. 5.
