Nine Eastern Airlines Officials Arrested: The nine, who worked at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport, were accused of failing to perform maintenance on critical aircraft components and then faking records to make it appear that the work had been done. They will be arraigned in New York on Friday. They include the former manager of the defunct carrier’s Atlanta terminal operations and eight former supervisors of maintenance. The components allegedly left unrepaired included altimeters, compasses, cockpit landing gear lights, wing flaps, autopilot systems and fuel gauges.
