IBM Announces Super-Fast Chip: The company said it has built the world’s fastest high-capacity memory chip. Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM described the chip as experimental and said it can send or receive 8 billion bits of information per second. The chip is of the type called static random access memory, or SRAM.
