Nation IN BRIEF : COLORADO : Three Die in Crash of Jet Near Aspen
A Learjet 35 with at least three people on board crashed and burned at dusk in light snow just short of Sardy Field, near the Snowmass ski resort in Colorado. All aboard were killed, Pitkin County Coroner Steve Ayers said. The small airport is often used by celebrities visiting the Aspen, Colo., area. The plane crashed short of a runway on a mesa across the Roaring Fork River from the airport, witnesses said. The plane lost its wings and left a trail of debris before it burned, they said. Officials had the identification number of the plane, but were withholding details until relatives could be notified.
