GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : Simi Valley Routs Arcadia, 100-40
The Simi Valley High girls’ basketball team broke out on top of Arcadia early and never let up in a 100-40 Southern Section I-AA Division qualifying-round victory Wednesday at Simi Valley.
The Pioneers (12-13) outscored Arcadia (4-16) in the fourth quarter by 29 points, 32-3.
Lori Church scored 23 points, including four three-point baskets, and Nikki Spindler added 22 points and 11 rebounds for Simi Valley. DIVISION III-AA
Alemany 84, Rolling Hills 29--Barbara Ward scored a game-high 20 points and Sarah Guziel added 16 to lead the Indians (19-7) past Rolling Hills (2-15) at Alemany.
Ward and Guziel each scored 12 points in the first half, helping the Indians build a 52-9 lead at halftime. DIVISION IV-A
Oak Park 45, Alverno 34--Junior center Kelli Romney scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Eagles (7-11) past host Alverno (5-10).
The man-to-man defense of Jody Runyon and Chris Lobitz shut down Alverno’s leading scorers, holding them to just two points each in the second half.
Bell-Jeff 54, St. Monica 43--Lori Leon scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Guards (16-9) defeat St. Monica in a game at Bell-Jeff.
St. Bonaventure 68, Village Christian 42--St. Bonaventure outscored Village Christian, 16-4, in the third quarter to extend a 39-21 halftime advantage.
Joana Ziuraitis had 25 points to lead St. Bonaventure (13-9).
L.A. Baptist 43, Valley Christian 37--Karleen Cox scored a game-high 26 points to lead L.A. Baptist (13-5). DIVISION V-AA
Campbell Hall 52, Bishop Diego 45--Joanna Paul had 27 points to lead host Campbell Hall (8-11). Stacy Melcher had 12 rebounds for Campbell Hall. NORTHWEST VALLEY CONFERENCE
Kennedy 49, Cleveland 46--Shaneya Harris scored 18 points for visiting Kennedy.
