From Staff and Wire Reports

Leroy Burrell, upset that his world record in the 60-meter dash was nullified because he had jumped the gun, ran the distance a second time Wednesday and again broke the record in an indoor meet at Madrid.

Burrell was timed in 6.4 seconds in the first race, but the judges ruled that he left the starting blocks too soon.

The judges decided to re-run the race after 10 minutes, and Burrell then was timed in 6.48, breaking the record of 6.50 set by Lee McRae in 1987 at Indianapolis.
