4 Students at UCLA Receive Film Awards
A Santa Monica man is one of four UCLA film students to receive the first Everett Kovler Awards.
Larry Trilling of Santa Monica, Diane Frederick of Schenectady, N.Y., David Nelson of Washington, D.C., and Molly Strange of Palo Alto received the awards, newly established at the university.
Each winner will receive $10,000 to offset production costs of his or her thesis film, the final requirement for the UCLA Master of Fine Arts program in film production.
The awards were established with a $40,000 gift from the Blum-Kovler Foundation at the direction of retired businessman Everett Kovler.
The winners are all third-year M.F.A. students who plan to become professional film makers.
