South S.D.
Police are searching for a man who tied up and robbed a South San Diego woman after gaining entrance to her home on the pretext of having a check for her.
Silvia Aceves, 31, told police she was washing windows in her home in the 2200 block of Molokai Way when a well-dressed man with a briefcase tapped on a window.
He told Aceves he had a check for her husband and a check for her, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
After Aceves let the man enter the house, he took a pistol from his briefcase and robbed her of jewelry worth $1,000 and $101 in cash.
The bandit then tied Aceves hands and feet and left her in a closet.
Aceves freed herself after about 10 minutes and went to her neighbors’ home for help, Robinson said.
