Does Raveling Deserve the Credit or Blame?

Isn’t there any care or concern any more about sportsmanship?

George Raveling, in commenting on his team’s upset of Arizona, lauds the “support” of USC’s fans: “All of a sudden teams are coming in the Sports Arena and they can’t call their signals. They get a headache trying to yell. And the other team’s coach can’t yell at the officials because they can’t hear them.” All because of the noise of the USC fans. On the same sports page, mention is made of UCLA students “cursing opposing players.”

Do college athletics continue to have a teaching value if sportsmanship is disregarded?
