Memorial Service Is Set for Macker
A memorial service for P.K. (Ken) Macker, former executive vice president of the Golden State Warriors, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in East Los Angeles.
Macker, 74, died Feb. 8 in a San Francisco hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held last week in the Bay Area.
In 1954, Macker, a Loyola Marymount graduate, started a public relations business with former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, who was then the Rams’ publicity director. Macker later joined the Warriors and served as president during their 1974-75 title season, when owner Franklin Miouli took time off to sail around the world.
Macker is survived by four children. Two sons live in Southern California--John in Los Angeles and Peter in San Juan Capistrano. Another son, Paul, and daughter Ann Macker live in the Bay Area. Macker’s brother, the late Gordon Macker, wrote a sports column for the old Los Angeles Daily News.
