Man, 20, Is Critically Hurt in Shooting
SANTA ANA — A 20-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot in an alley in a gang-related incident, police reported Monday.
The victim, Israel Orejel of Santa Ana, was found about 8:45 p.m. Sunday in an alley in the 1700 block of South Cedar Street, officers said. He had been shot once as he stood in the alley, they said.
Officers said the shooting apparently stemmed from an argument. The gunman, who fled after the shooting, was described as being tall and between the ages of 17 and 20. Police are seeking a suspect in the case.
Orejel was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where a nursing supervisor Monday reported his condition as critical.
