Chip Firms Extend Accord: National Semiconductor said it reached a broad patent cross-licensing agreement with Hitachi Ltd. that gives both companies rights to all products developed by the other. The 10-year agreement replaces and expands a previous cross-licensing agreement, and includes patents acquired by National via its 1987 purchase of Fairchild Semiconductor.
