Diamond Bar : Edison Bill Tax a Mistake
Residents can ignore the 5% county tax that may have appeared on their Southern California Edison bills issued in February, the City Council was told Tuesday.
Bob Eggert of Edison said 12,000 to 14,000 Diamond Bar customers received bills that mistakenly listed the tax. The error occurred when computers failed to remember that the 2-year-old city was no longer an unincorporated county area.

Diamond Bar gas bills--A story in the San Gabriel Valley section Feb. 21 reported incorrectly that a 5% county tax was mistakenly added to the February electric bills of 12,000 to 14,000 Southern California Edison customers in Diamond Bar.
The tax was charged on Southern California Gas Co. bills to Diamond Bar customers.
Southern California Edison customers are still required to pay their bills in full.
Gas company customers who have paid the tax will have the amount credited to their next billing. Those who have not yet paid their bill can ignore the 5% charge.
Eggert said that those who have already paid the tax will have the amount credited to their next bills.
