SAN CLEMENTE : Bomb Squad Finds Old Pipe--That’s All
The police bomb squad was called to a San Diego Gas & Electric Co. power station Wednesday after workers found a piece of pipe that they mistakenly thought was a bomb.
Police Sgt. Richard Downing said workers at the station, located between Calle Bahia and Avenida Magdalena, noticed the suspicious-looking plastic pipe about 10:30 a.m. and called police. Officers who arrived agreed that the pipe looked like a bomb and called for the bomb squad.
“With all of the bomb scares at power stations on the East Coast, we wanted to be careful,” Downing said.
But when the bomb squad arrived, members found that the pipe was harmless, Downing said.
