THE GULF WAR: The Battle Front : AAV7 Amtrack
The Amtrack--or Amphibious Assault Vehicle--would play a key role in the first waves of any allied amphibious assault against Iraqi forces. The full-tracked vehicles can handle seas of up to 10 feet, landing troops and supplies ashore. Although lightly armored, Amtracks can also be used for subsequent land operations.
