In other Southern Section games:

Hesperia 37, Palmdale 27--Aimee Grimes scored 10 points for visiting Palmdale (24-6). Palmdale standout Kim Schielke was held to just two points as Palmdale scored just six points in the second half of the I-AA game.

Hesperia improved to 20-4.

Channel Islands 81, Redlands 52--The Raiders (23-5) advanced to the I-AA quarterfinals with a decisive victory.

Thousand Oaks 67, Pasadena 55--The Lancers (25-3) will face El Toro in a I-A quarterfinal game.

Cerritos 57, Hart 43--The Indians (22-6) shot only 18% in the first half and squandered a chance to win their third consecutive Southern Section title, falling to Cerritos (18-9) in a I-A game. Anjanette Dionne scored 22 points for Hart.

Westlake 64, Torrance 36--Leading only 26-22 at halftime, Westlake switched to a 1-2-2 defense and outscored Torrance, 23-1, in the third quarter of the II-AA game.

The Tartars (19-8) missed all 10 of their field-goal attempts in the period and converted only 16 of 50 (32%) for the game while Westlake (20-6) made 45% (23 of 51) from the field. Tracy Thorp scored a game-high 22 points and had 16 rebounds for the Warriors.

Chaminade 54, Banning 36--Maria Costa had 19 points and Jane Kim grabbed 20 rebounds for host Chaminade in a IV-AA game.

Jane Kim scored 12 points and Georgia Roy had 19 rebounds for Chaminade, which advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time.

Santa Clara 57, St. Matthias 35--Jennifer Gutierrez scored 16 points for host Santa Clara (12-13), which led, 27-12, at halftime of the IV-AA game.

Denise Hamilton and Dawnte Anderson each scored 10 points, and Angie Chaparro added eight rebounds and eight assists.

Holy Martyrs 47, Thacher 30--Garineh Abramians made five three-point baskets en route to 25 points for Holy Martyrs (19-4) in a V-AA game at Thacher.

CITY SECTION

North Hollywood 56, Banning 48--Nikki Hamilton, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard, held Banning center Latrice Polk (6-5), the team’s top rebounder, to two points in a 4-A quarterfinal game at North Hollywood. Jacinda Sweet scored 18 points and had 14 rebounds for the Huskies (23-4) and teammate Suzy Shimoyama added 11 and seven steals.

Crenshaw 49, Van Nuys 45--Van Nuys held the Cougars to two points in the fourth quarter, but still fell short in the 4-A quarterfinal. Trailing, 37-21, at halftime, Van Nuys (23-5) narrowed the score to 47-45 on two JoAnne Harry free throws with 37 seconds to play. Crenshaw’s Cathleen Grice was fouled with six seconds left and made two free throws.

Grant 73, Taft 54--Leah Woods had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Monique Young had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for the Lancers (15-5) in a 3-A quarterfinal game.

Alissa Tishler scored a game-high 20 points for Taft (13-6).
