Countywide : PUC Delays Hearing on Utility Merger
Oral arguments on the proposed merger between Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric have been rescheduled before the California Public Utilities Commission for 9 a.m. March 20 in San Francisco.
Oral arguments had been set for March 6 but were rescheduled following two appointments to the commission by Gov. Pete Wilson last week.
Commissioners Daniel Fessler and Norman D. Shumway need to familiarize themselves with evidence that has been presented to the commission already, said Dianne Dienstein, spokeswoman for the commission.
Except for the change in date, no other aspect of the hearing has been changed. The commission will make its decision on the merger application after consideration of the evidence and the parties’ oral arguments.
The commission is expected to give its final decision soon after the March 20 hearing, Dienstein said.
