Mohammed Ibrahim Al Janaby, the head keeper at the BAGHDAD ZOO, is a worried man. The allied air raids and shortages of meat, water and fodder are affecting his animals. The animals--which include a lion, two tigers, several dozen foxes, giraffes, zebras, black bears, spotted deer and hundreds of monkeys--are left unattended in their cages and enclosures because most of the zoo’s staff have fled.
