Monrovia : Hearing on Police Station

The City Council will hold a meeting Tuesday to allow the public a chance to comment on the proposed financing of a new $8.8-million police station.

The public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. in the Kay Dalton Room of the Monrovia Community Center, 119 W. Palm St.

The focus of the hearing will be the formation of a special assessment district that would raise the funds for the proposed 30,000-square-foot station. Under the special district, each Monrovia household would be assessed $49 annually for the next 27 years. Businesses would be assessed based on their square footage. An election on whether to go ahead with construction of the police station is scheduled for early June.
